Custom keepsake gifts for the Irish Dance lover designed from her t-shirts, costumes, and more!
I have always been fascinated by Irish step dancing. The fast feet and the fun music are so entertaining. Irish dancers are a dedicated bunch. They spend many hours each week all year round learning and perfecting their craft.
Irish dancers perform for many different audiences depending on the time of year. Their busiest performance schedule is on and around St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th). During the St. Paddy’s Day season, they perform in so many places. You can find them in parades, at outdoor events, and other venues such as schools and restaurants.
What you may not be aware of is the competition aspect of Irish dancing. A Feis (pronounced “fesh” meaning festival) is an Irish dancing competition. Feiseanna (plural) were traditionally cultural gatherings with events and competitions in music, dancing, singing and other aspects of Irish culture.
A dancer usually competes individually and in Figures (or “team dances”). The dancers compete regionally, nationally, internationally, and the best of the best travel to World Championships.
